What roofing materials work best for Charleston's coastal climate?

Charleston's salt air, humidity, and storm exposure favor metal roofing (standing seam, 5V, or Tuff-Rib), architectural shingles, and properly sealed flat systems for commercial properties. Our team helps you choose materials based on your structure, budget, and long-term durability needs.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roof replacements in the Charleston area are completed in 1–3 days, depending on roof size and material. Commercial projects vary based on building size and scope. We provide a clear timeline with our written proposal before work begins.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Kolbet Chappell Roofing & Construction is fully licensed and insured in South Carolina. Co-founder Wes Chappell is a licensed Commercial General Contractor (South Carolina GC License #126628).

What certifications does Kolbet Chappell hold?

We're IKO Certified, CertainTeed Certified, and Acrylabs Certified — meaning we install these manufacturers' products to spec, which supports stronger material warranties.

How do I know if my roof needs replacement or just repair?

Signs you may need a full replacement include curling or missing shingles, granules in gutters, sagging, interior water stains, or a roof older than 20 years. Our team performs a detailed inspection and provides honest guidance on whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Not Sure If Your Roof Needs Replacement?

If you're unsure about the condition of your roof, our team can perform a professional assessment and provide honest guidance on whether repair or replacement makes sense.
